Congratulations to Robert Macleod MBE
We are very proud to announce that Robert Macleod (Managing
Director of Assessment North East) has been awarded an MBE in the
Queen's Birthday Honours List, June 2009, for services to Investors
in People and international trade.
Robert has worked with organisations using the Investors in
People Standard in various roles since 1992. Currently a Managing
Director of The International Quality Centre, he is also involved
in the development of Investors in People overseas, holding
directorships in two overseas companies and regularly visiting
other countries to promote it.
He said: "it is a very humbling thing really, to think that
someone has watched my work and thought enough of what I've
achieved to put me forward for this. It is absolutely fantastic. I
have been lucky enough to be given some great opportunities in my
career and, together with some tremendous people, have had some
great successes, such as launching a new company in Australia.
"But also in the North East, I'm very proud of what we have
achieved. We work with more than a third of North East
organisations which gives us one of the highest penetration rates
in the UK.
"Being nominated was a real surprise. When I opened the letter
on Saturday morning I had to physically sit down and read it again,
checking it was really my name at the top. Ironically, when it was
publically announced on the internet in the early hours of the
morning, I was in Melbourne, Australia, driving to a board meeting.
But perhaps that was quite fitting, as well as a great delight to
my fellow passengers. Now it has started sinking in, I am very
proud and honoured to have received it."
