Conveyancing Quality Scheme Update
Law Society encourage Solicitors to sign up to the Conveyancing
Quality Scheme (CQS) to be sure to benefit from consumer-facing
advertising campaign.
The Law Society is planning a consumer-facing public relations
and advertising campaign for its CQS in the spring and is urging
firms to get their applications to join the scheme in soon to be
sure to benefit from the campaign.
Firms will need to have completed applications for CQS status by
February 28 2011 to get the most out of the Society's PR push.
The Society is planning to highlight the benefits of the scheme
to home buyers and potential home buyers beginning in April to
coincide with the Easter house-hunting surge.
The scheme, which is supported by the Council of Mortgage
Lenders and will provide a recognised quality standard for
residential conveyancing practices, opened for applications in
December.
Firms applying to join the scheme will undergo a robust
assessment and will be required to renew their membership of the
scheme each year. The aim of the scheme is to reinforce consistency
of standards throughout the conveyancing process, reduce the risk
of fraud and give consumers peace of mind when it comes to home
buying.
Assessment North East have registered an interest at the Law
Society to be involved with the CSQ and hope to be delivering
consultancy and assessment services in the very near future.
