It's your choice: a more tailored approach to working with The Standard
This new more consultative and personalised approach to working
with the framework offers practical support to help drive your
organisation forward.
This new more consultative and personalised approach to working
with the framework offers practical support to help drive your
organisation forward. By identifying your organisation's unique
business needs and applying the Investors in People framework to
meet them. The content of The Standard has not changed however, the
new approach offers a more tailored way for you to work with the
framework. This subtle but powerful shift in emphasis means the
Investors in People can be used to focus on your organisational
objectives, whatever they may be.
Effects on the organisation
The Investors in People Standard, still represents the national
benchmark for good practice. However, in line with the new approach
to working with Investors in People, the framework has been
extended to meet your changing needs and give you the opportunity
to explore in more depth areas that are of most importance to your
organisation as part of an ongoing process of continuous
development. In practice, you will have a closer working
relationship with your Investors in People assessor who will
establish what your business priorities are at the pre-assessment
planning meeting, and in consultation with you identify the
most relevant parts of the framework for your organisation to work
with. The new approach introduces three additional stages of
recognition for organisations who work beyond The Standard. You can
achieve gold, silver or bronze status by meeting additional
evidence requirements from across the framework. The topics you
choose from the extended framework will link directly to the
business needs you have identified with your Investors in People
assessor. The assessment process is now forward looking rather than
retrospective, making the Investors in People experience one that
moves your organisation forward to continuously improve.
The additional recognition scoring system is transparent and
easy to understand. Every evidence requirement achieved is equal to
one point. The total number of evidence requirements achieved makes
your total points score.
All organisations need to meet the 39 core evidence
requirements that make up The Standard to be recognised as
Investors in People. Therefore, meeting The Standard will give you
39 points.
Including the points that make up The Standard, organisations
that achieve:
- 65 evidence requirements will be recognised as Investors in
People Bronze
- 115 evidence requirements or more will be recognised as
Investors in People Silver
- 165 evidence requirements or more will be recognised as
Investors in People Gold
These different levels recognise continuous achievements,
rewarding organisations for building on the work they have
previously done with the Investors in People framework. Your
achievement will be reflected in the Investors in People
certificate you are awarded and in the logo and plaque you
will be entitled to use, your assessor will inform you of your
organisations status level.
Why a new approach? The benefits to you
Focused on your needs - While you will continue
to work with The Standard, you can now choose to work with the most
relevant parts of the extended framework to achieve your
business priorities. The key benefit is that your needs become the
primary focus of your Investors in people review rather than
the requirements of the framework.
Increased flexibility - Having a flexible
approach to working with the Investors in People framework means we
can adapt our support as and when your priorities change making the
way your organisation works with the framework more relevant and
dynamic. By working more closely with you, your assessor will help
you to define priorities and select the most relevant parts of the
extended framework to focus on.
Targeted development advice - You will notice a
change in the level of support you receive from us, which will be
even more personal to meet your individual requirements. To deliver
this support, our assessors and advisers will work with you during
your next assessment, to understand your goals and what you
are seeking to achieve from working with Investors in People.
Stretch and continuous improvement - The new
approach is designed to draw out areas for development that will
help you achieve your business goals. Extending the framework
beyond The Standard to include additional elements provides stretch
as part of your organisations process of continuous development.
This will help you to drive your organisation towards achieve
long-term goals and ambitions.
