Key event with EHRC in June!
Over the last 12 months, we've run a range of events both here
in the North East and further afield on various aspects of equality
and diversity, especially as new guidance is issued and best
practice becomes apparent.
In February, we ran an event in partnership with Dickinson Dees
LLP called 'Keeping it Smart' for both E&D and procurement
professionals from the public sector. The event focused on
helping them set SMART equality objectives as required under the
Public Sector Equality Duty. It was a great success and has
helped a number of public bodies set more specific, measurable and
challenging objectives for their E&D activities in the coming
years.
Building on this, we will be running a further event on
21 June, again for public bodies, looking at
the procurement function in more detail and how that 'function'
might contribute towards better equality outcomes. Run in
partnership with the Equality and Human Rights Commission, NEREO,
NEPO and kindly hosted by award winning Tyne and Wear Fire and
Rescue Service, the event will include the presentation of NEW
guidance for public sector bodies on their duties and how these
relate to procurement practices.
