North East celebrates the best in training
Companies and individuals in the North East gathered in
September at The National Training Awards to celebrate those who
have achieved outstanding business and personal success through an
investment in training.
Sponsored by Investors in People, The National Training Awards
honour those who have made an outstanding contribution and
commitment to training in the workplace. The UK national winners
from the North East were:
- Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd, Sunderland Plant,
Sunderland
- Chesapeake Branded Packaging Newcastle & Gateshead College,
Newcastle
- Northumberland Theatre Company, Alnwick, Northumberland
- Emma Holt, Training Manager, Sunderland
- Broadcaster Wendy Gibson presented each winner with the
trophy.
The 4 UK national winners will now be invited to the UK Gala
Ceremony at London's Royal Horticultural Halls on Thursday 10th
December where they will find out whether or not they have won the
overall Winner of the Year prize for their category. They will be
up against winners from across the UK.
The following regional awards were also presented at the
ceremony, held at the Hilton Newcastle/Gateshead:
- NECPS Northumbria Police and Durham Constabulary, Durham
- Barclaycard in partnership with CragRats Ltd, Stockton-on-Tees,
Cleveland
- North Country Leisure and The Jackson Curtis Partnership,
Hexham, Northumberland
- Hilda King, Grindon, Sunderland
- Gateshead College, Gateshead
- Mears Group, Sedgefield Branch, Co. Durham
- Durham University, Co. Durham
- BMB Menswear Ltd, Hartlepool, Cleveland
- Magnet Group, Darlington, Co. Durham
Congratulating all winners, Wendy Gibson said: "This year's
recipients in the North East have set the benchmark high. Each and
every one of them has proven that in today's current climate, high
quality training is an integral part of both personal and business
development. It is great to see such a wide range of winners from
our region go forward to the UK Gala Ceremony, it really does put
the North East on the map."
