Robert Macleod - Update on ANE

Robert Macleod March 2011Recently I attended the annual general meeting of the NECC and heard about some of the successes the region has had in the last 12 months. Especially highlighted was the resilience of the people in the North East and their adaptability to change, and change we will too. For the last 15 years, we have operated the Investors in People award and in that time, over 3000 organisations have used it. Sadly, our time with Investors in People comes to an end this month as the UK licences have been restructured. I hope you have been able to make use of our New Year offers leading up to this change. Before I move on, I would like to say how proud my staff, our assessors and myself have been to provide you with support over the last 15 years. We've had some wonderful feedback from you and it's been greatly appreciated. It is great to know that our work has made a difference.

Along our journey as a company, we've developed a range of other services to complement and enhance organisational and individual development, such as our Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications. We've brought new things to the region, for example Managerial Assessment of ProficiencyTM (MAPTM) services, and we have assisted over 800 managers to understand their strengths and development needs. We've developed an excellent team of legal professionals to assist legal firms to develop their practices and we've been successful in becoming one of the top centres for the Lexcel award. And this is what we will continue to do, bringing new things to region to help you.

Over the last year, we've been working with a series of equality and diversity standards to see how they assist organisations to firstly improve their practices and secondly to ensure that they meet their new statutory obligations. As the public sector condenses, more contracts will be placed with the private and third sectors. With the implementation of the Equality Act 2010, the need to prove your equality credentials will become increasingly important, it is also good business practice. If you'd like to know more about this then we are running a free awareness event on 5th April. Please call us on 0191 516 6464 if you'd like to book a place.

And finally, thank you once again for your support and we look forward to working with you again and enjoying our continued mutual success.
